Retha Harmse
Retha is an esteemed Registered Dietician who exhibits a dedication that transcends conventional notions of health. She firmly promotes the concept that mental well-being is an indispensable facet of overall health, emphasising that true vitality cannot be achieved without addressing the intricacies of the mind. Her comprehensive approach encompasses the holistic integration of mental, spiritual, and physical health. Within this approach wellness surpasses mere physical fitness or the absence of illness, extending to cover a rich and abundant existence in all dimensions of an individual’s essence. Retha employs the modalities of Intuitive Eating and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy in her patient-centred practice and has attained certification as an Intuitive Eating Counsellor from the esteemed founder of the Intuitive Eating paradigm in the United States. She is experienced in the treatment of eating disorders, disordered eating patterns, and various mental health diagnoses, bringing a wealth of expertise to her profession. Retha extends her expertise as a Consultant Dietician, providing tailored wellness programs, engaging presentations, recipe demonstrations, and other corporate services in response to the diverse needs of various companies. She contributes to the Association for Dietetics in South Africa (ADSA) National Executive Committee, holding the esteemed position of Public Relations portfolio holder. Serving as an ADSA spokesperson for a diverse range of media platforms, including radio, television, and print media, effectively passing on her knowledge and advocating for her profession. Maintaining a private practice situated in Johannesburg, Retha also heads group sessions at The Day Clinic, a prominent in-patient psychiatric day program. Focusing on the intricate brain-gut axis and the restoration of joyous eating experiences, these sessions center around the revitalization of individuals’ relationships with nourishment.

Michelle Zietsman
Michelle is a Registered Dietician and South African Certified Lactation Consultant passionate about educating, inspiring and empowering her clients with simple and sustainable solutions to make informed and healthy lifestyle choices, change habits, and achieve better health. Michelle also offers lactation support. She loves to come alongside new moms who are experiencing lactation or breastfeeding difficulties and helps them move forward, feel empowered and enjoy the journey of breastfeeding. Michelle has a special interest in women’s health, eating disorders, veganism and nutrition counselling and education. She strives to never stop learning and to continue growing in these fields. She is passionate about promoting predominantly plant-based eating patterns not only for health and well-being but also for sustainable and compassionate living. Apart from obtaining her BSc. degree in Dietetics, she also completed a Higher Certificate in Christian Counselling. Michelle serves on the National Executive Committee for the Association of Dietetics in South Africa (ADSA) for the portfolio Representation. Her motivation to serve on the team is to be more directly involved in taking action towards a future of better nutrition, and thus better health in our communities.
